Department of Socialwork

The Department of Socialwork started its functioning at Sree Nararayana Guru Collerge of Arts and Science, Paingottoor in the year 2015. Department starts with Undergraduate program with limited number of students in the initial stage. Now the department has grown upto having highest strength of students in the college. Since 2019 onwards department started Post Graduate program with Specializations in Rural and Urban development and Medical and Psychiatric Socialwork. The department focuses not only on the academic excellence of the students but also emphasis on promoting them socially committed individuals through socio cultural interventions.

To be a centre for imparting value based socialwork education and create a group of highly talented socially sensitive young professionals, capable of addressing life challenges.

 

Mission

 

Transform students into people who are aware of social evils and make them capable of creating meaningful interference with emerging societal concerns.

Extension Services / Associations

The department of social work has formed an extension service society under the society registration act 1860. The society was formed in the year 2017 to initiate various social service activities in the society. The extension service society is named Sree Narayana Guru College of arts and science extension service society (SNGCASESS) (Reg: no ekm/ 18/2017). Various social service activities are undertaken by the society such as tribal development programs, education support programs for poor students, study material distribution in tribal students, baseline surveys, research and project initiatives etc. apart from the developmental initiatives, the students can experience different social work field intervention activities through conducting various programmes and workshops.
