ABOUT THE COLLEGE

 

Sree Narayana Guru College of Arts & Science, Paingottoor, was established with the aim of providing quality higher education to uplift the disadvantaged and underprivileged sections in tune with the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru.  It provides non-conventional job oriented courses to the aspirants from the eastern side of Ernakulum district and western side of Idukki district. It is strategically proposed to be at Paingottoor near the Onnukal –Thodupuzha state highway.  It has already- within a short span of time- attracted the attention of students and parents looking for an ideal centre of academic excellence set in an ecofriendly, serene atmosphere conducive for the promotion of higher education.  The campus lies on the northern side of Sreedevi temple, amongst rubber plantation.

 

Guru Chaitanya Charitable Trust, a registered charitable trust (Reg. No. A 460/IV/2006) formed by a group of visionaries in 2006, with an aim to uphold the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru (1855-1928), the great sage and social reformer who is considered as the Leader of Indian Renaissance movement. The trust is promoted by SNDP Yogam, Kothamangalam Union, and Head Quartered at Kothamangalam. The Guru’s exhortation ‘Vidya kondu Prabudharakuvin’ is sincerely and ardently followed by the management. 

 

Sree Narayana Guru College of Arts & Science, Paingottoor, is the first foot step in the arena of higher education by the Trust.  Established in the year 2014-15 by Guru Chaitanya Charitable Trust, Kothamangalam affiliated to M.G University, Kottayam and approved by Government of Kerala.

FEES

 

  1. The fees that are to be remitted by the students at the beginning of each semester will be fixed by the college authorities on the bases of the rules and regulations stipulated by the government the authorities on the basis of the rules and regulations stipulated by the government and the university.

 

  1. Every student shall pay the first installment of fees at the time of admission.

 

 

  1. Other installments of fees are to be paid at the beginning of each semester i.e. June and December.

 

  1. FEES ONCE PAID WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.

 

 

  1. G.University has introduced online payment system for all types of fees. Details can be obtained by visiting the university website www.mgu.ac.in.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

Discipline

  1. The principal is the ultimate disciplinary authority in the college.
  2. Everyone should stand at attention at the sound of the prayer bell and continue to remain so till the prayer song ends wherever he/she be in the college campus.
  3. Students should not enter or leave a class session without the teacher’s permission.
  4. Students should always behave respectfully to the staff in the college.
  5. No one should be found loitering in the veranda during free hours disturbing the class in progress.
  6. No students shall enter another classroom without prior permission.
  7. In words and deeds students are expected to be most decorous.
  8. Every student shall handle the college property with care. Vandalism and destruction of college property will be seriously dealt with and material loss will be fully recovered with fine.
  9. Election on the basis of politics is forbidden as per the court order and political activity in the campus is disallowed. Students resorting to strike are strictly warned not to enter any class room. No demonstrations dharnas and strike are permissible inside the campus.
  10. Students are expected to keep themselves the premises of the college tidy, clean and healthy.
  11. Smoking, consumption of alcoholic beverages and the use of narcotic drugs are strictly prohibited.
  12. Students should carry at all times college identity card which should be shown to the authorities when demanded.
  13. The use of cell phone is strictly forbidden inside the campus.
  14. Students are not expected to leave the campus during the working hours without permission of     
  15. It is the responsibility of the student to earn a conduct certificate. It is not issued on a matter of right.
  16. The teacher holds the responsibility of maintaining discipline in their classes.

 

 

UNIFORM AND IDENTITY CARD

 

  1. An identity card will be issued to every student at the time of admission at their own expense.
  2. Students should wear uniform on prescribed days and id-cards always with them in the campus.
  3. The identity cards should be produced for inspection by any member of the staff of the college.
  4. If the identity card of a student is lost a duplicate may be issued after remitting of a fine of Rs. 150/- at the student’s expense with the special permission of the principal.
  5. The identity card should be returned to the college when the students apply for T.C.

 

ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE OF ABSENCE

 

  1. A working day is divided into two sessions, the morning session of three periods and the afternoon session of two periods.
  2. Attendance will be marked at the beginning of each period by teacher engaging the class.
  3. Late comers are not eligible for attendance.
  4. Students shall not absent themselves from any class without leave.
  5. A student who is absent without leave from one period will lose the attendance of that whole session.
  6. The names of students who are absent themselves from the college for more than 10 consecutive working days without satisfactory explanation will be removed from the rolls. They may be re-admitted on payment of the re-admission fee.
  7. The Annual Certificate for Attendance and Progress required for promotion and for admission to the University Examination will not be granted unless-
  • The student has at least 75% of the attendance prescribed by the University for the Course.
  • The student has completed the course of instruction to the satisfaction of the authorities.
  • His/her progress in studies and conduct has been satisfactory.
  1. Students whose attendance falls below the prescribed minimum shall apply for exemption through the Principal. The application in the prescribed form shall be accompanied by a chalan receipt for Rs.560/- up to 20 days (maximum) and Rs.280/- up to 10 days. No exemption will be granted more than once during a course. No application for exemption will be recommended more than once during a course. No application for exemption will be recommended by the Principal unless he/she is satisfied that the shortage of attendance was due to a cause beyond the student’s control. Ordinarily, long continued illness will be accepted as a plea for shortage of attendance. Absence without leave application will not be condoned under any circumstances.

 

STRICT ACTION AGAINST RAGGING

 

  • Ragging inside or outside the campus is strictly prohibited.

 

  • Any student convicted of an offence related to ragging will be dismissed from the college and such student shall be liable for punishment with imprisonment for a term of two years and fine up to Rs.10000/-.

 

 

  • She/he will not be admitted in any other educational institution for a period of 3 years from the date of dismissal.

 

  • Ragging means doing any act by disorderly conduct to a student of an educational institution, this causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm, raising apprehension, fear, shame or embarrassment to that student and includes
  1. Teasing, abusing or playing practical jokes on or causing hurt to such student.
  2. Asking a student to do an act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course, willingly do.

COLLEGE EXAMINATONS & TEST PAPERS

 

  1. There shall be two internal examinations in each semester.
  2. In addition to these, test papers will be given from time to time at the discretion of teachers after due notice given to students.
  3. Every student shall complete the internal assessment including assignments and seminars according to the schedule. A record of internal assessment marks will be maintained by the teachers. Regular attendance is a part of internal assessment.
