DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

The Department of English had its inception since 2014 with an under graduate programme – BA ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE (MODEL II). A very limited number of students got admitted in the first batch .Thereafter, the number increased. We provide intensive mentoring to our students both in and beyond classroom in a wide variety of forums. The department has at present five faculties in all.

VISION

To extend creatively in literary terms the consciousness of life and cultural values in a regional context to that of wider global range and complexity, leading to mutual enrichment and fulfillment. We also emphasize on empowering students by providing all kinds of knowledge.

MISSION

We aim to graduate students to examine literature from multiple eras, cultures and genres with critical understanding.
We aim to develop critical thinking skills in order to synthesize information.
We support new ideas for learning.
We aim in improving communication skills through active engagement in variety of activities that honour different learning styles.
We aim in raising a consciousness of cultural differences in the language.

CLUB

Literary Club –The club is enthusiastically organizing film fest, Reading day competitions, talk of eminent personalities like poets and writers during free academic.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Jeemon Johny of 1stBA English was the Gold medallist of 2020 MG university best physique competition.
With their Excellency our students have achieved placements in various established firms.

Ms. Persis Scaria of the Department was in 4thplace of MG university 2020-21Undergraduate result.

HIGHLIGHTS

It is along with academic focus the department is providing facilities like Theatre and Film Studies.
Along with IQAC, Department has organised a one day workshop ‘Guest 2020’ for the nearby college students on UG project.
